Intergenerational Living
This project focuses on the transformation of the Eglinton community in Toronto, aimed at creating an environment conducive to intergenerational living, addressing the previously senior-unfriendly layout. Originally encircled by ravines and highways, the area was plagued by inconvenient pedestrian access and numerous dead ends. Through detailed mapping analysis and urban planning research, the project proposes a new urban layout that optimizes traffic flow and public space, making it more open and coherent. Central to the project are two residential buildings designed for different age groups, promoting interaction and support between the elderly and the young. This "intergenerational living" model not only improves living conditions for the elderly but also enhances the overall vitality and inclusivity of the community.
